Description
Additional Information

EN 13501-2 Classification of fire resistance of construction products and building elements in the European Union, Part 2: Classification using data from fire resistance tests, excluding ventilation services.

EN 13501-2 Classification Test-Scope of Application:

This part of the European Standard specifies the methods for determining the fire resistance and integrity of product elements and building components within certain application ranges. This part does not apply to the determination of the fire resistance of curtain walls. The extension of classification levels is outside the scope of this standard. For the scope of application, the same classification levels can refer to the specific instructions of the standard.

For container products, in addition to wall materials tested as vertical structures, bases and ceilings must also be tested as horizontal structures, with applicable test methods differing.

ØMain Standards:

EN 1365-1: Fire resistance tests for walls and partitions (load-bearing or non-load-bearing).

EN 1364-1: Fire resistance tests for non-load-bearing partitions (applicable to internal partitions of containers).

ØAdditional Standards:

EN 1363-2: Fire resistance tests - Methods for determining fire integrity and insulation.

EN 13501-2 European Fire Resistance Test Standard - Test Parameters

ØTemperature Curve:

The temperature rise curve for EN 13501-2 fire resistance tests can refer to the ISO 834 international standard temperature rise curve, simulating fire development.

Ambient at 0 min

843℃ at 30min

927℃ at 60min

1010℃ at 120min or over

ØTest Duration:

Selected based on design requirements (e.g., EI30, EI60, where the number represents minutes), or as specified by the client.

ØPass Criteria:

Fire Integrity (E): No flame penetration or cracks leading to flame spread.

Fire Insulation (I): Temperature rise on the unexposed side does not exceed 140℃ (average) or 180℃ (single point).

ŸStandard Definition - Fire Integrity:

Under standard fire test conditions, the ability of a building separation element to prevent flame and hot gas penetration or the occurrence of flames on the unexposed side for a specified period when one side is exposed to fire.

ŸStandard Definition - Fire Insulation:

Under standard fire test conditions, the ability of a building separation element to limit the temperature rise on its unexposed side to no more than a specified value for a certain duration when one side is exposed to fire.
